Frequently Asked Questions
What properties does MCCC currently steward?
MCCC currently holds and monitors 5 CR’s (Conservation Restrictions) on parcels of city- owned land in Ward 3 that include 33.93 acres. These lands are conserved for wetland protection, wildlife habitat, small scale agriculture, active and passive recreation.
Does MCCC get funding from the city?
No, we do not, but we do have ongoing expenses. These include mowing MCA walking trails and chipping fallen limbs. We hope you will consider making a contribution to help care for this green island in our midst. We want to see it thrive as a space for passive recreation, wildlife habitat and small-scale organic agriculture.
Does MCCC sponsor any organized activities?
We do sponsor educational programs focused on the natural history of and human impacts on the lands we monitor. These are announced in advance through the Ward 3 and Montview Neighborhood list serves, and on this site.
How can I help the MCCC?
Join the MCCC! Annual dues are $10. for individuals or $15. For families. Volunteer for work sessions (advance notice will be posted here and on the Montview Neighborhood list serve). Make a contribution to the trail maintenance fund. Share pictures of plants and animals you see there. Our hope is to establish a small committee of interested folks to help implement the Management Plan and document the wildlife there.
